“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).
So much information is floating around these days about what’s real and what’s not. It has obscured people's views about eternity and the decision to come to God. Here are four irrefutable facts to help with your decision:
1. There is a Real God who loves you – “For God so loved the world….”
God is not a fictitious cosmic character. He is authentic and has thoughts, feelings, and an eternal will. He is the Creator. He is the Almighty. He is eternal, having no beginning or end. He knows absolutely everything about you. He created you and loves you unconditionally. He is calling to you at this very moment to commit your life to Him.
2. There is a Real Condition – “….should not perish..”
God is authentic and has thoughts, feelings, and an eternal will. He is the Creator. He is the Almighty. He is eternal, having no beginning or end. He knows absolutely everything about you. He created you and loved you unconditionally. He is calling to you at this very moment to commit your life to Him. s 1-3 thoroughly explain how humanity has arrived at this point.
3. There is a Real Savior – “…He gave His only begotten Son….”
The remedy to our sin condition is God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He is God’s gift to you. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Sin and the consequence of eternal death (perishing) entered the world through a choice, which can be solved with your selection. You have the opportunity to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. God has provided the way back to Him. Now, the decision is yours.
4. There is a Real Heaven – “…But have everlasting life.”
The result of accepting, believing, and living for God’s gift, Jesus Christ, is everlasting life. It’s hard to imagine living forever in a completely new body without aging, becoming sick, suffering, or ever again experiencing the effects of sin and evil, but it’s a reality. It’s a promise God made for receiving His wonderful gift—the giving of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Heaven is a real place that’s described throughout the bible. God wants you there with Him to the extent that He offered His Son as the ultimate sacrifice.
What’s the next step?
To receive the wonderful gift of Jesus Christ and inherit eternal life, it’s all about opening your heart to repent, believe, accept, and follow Him. Let’s get started... Pray these words aloud:
Dear God, I come to you, opening my heart and acknowledging my need for salvation. I repent of my sins. I believe you have sent your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins and resurrect from the grave. I accept and invite you into my heart, Jesus, and ask you to save me. I dedicate my life to following and living for you, Jesus! Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life! (Romans 10:9-10).
Do you feel peace in your heart? The weight of trying to live life on your own has been lifted. This doesn’t mean you will never have more challenges, trials, or temptations. That part of your life hasn’t disappeared. The truth is, it’s not so much about the things around you changing for the better, but rather YOU have decided to change for the better by becoming a follower of Jesus Christ.
One magnificent way to learn more about Jesus, receive guidance, and be surrounded by help during challenging moments is to connect with devoted followers of Christ. This is what makes the church essential and necessary for discipleship.
